9 Plus Size Vintage, Resale, and Thrift Stores to Know!

Los Angeles Plus Size Consignment- The Plus Bus Boutique 3
Looking for that perfect plus size vintage find? Did you know that there are now more plus size vintage, resale, and thrift shops than ever before?! Oh yes, and we are sharing 9 plus size vintage, resale, & thrift stores to shop, bookmark, and support!

For a long time, I avoided “thrifting,” because most thrift stores didn’t have plus size options – or if they do, the options were dismal… Rack of muumuus made of terrible prints. No hate on the muumuu, but I feel like there’s more out there for the plus size woman who loves a great piece of vintage fashion, ya know?

But all of that has changed over the past few years!

There are now so many options now. In addition to the growing amount of plus size boutiques, there are now plus size vintage shops that offer plus size resale, thrift and vintage, that have opened in the last year, alone. I know right?

Well, as usual, we are here to help you out as we’ve found 9 of our fave plus size vintage, resale & thrift shops, to shop in person!

9 Plus Size Vintage, Resale, and Thrift Stores to Know!

1. plus BKLYN (New York City, NY)

Started by Alexis Krase in 2017 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, plus BKLYN recently started offering quite a bit of vintage and resale pieces in-store, with the most eye catching on their website.  “Plus babes want to be able to find one-of-a-kind pieces, too!”

2.  Fat Fancy (Portland, OR)

Based in Portland, Oregon, Fat Fancy is both a boutique and body positive community center.  Owner Bee Tiberius Thornton focuses on resale and vintage clothes from a 1X to a 6X, as well as selling art from body positive artists around the country!

3. Secondhand Curves (Rockford, IL)

Attention, Chicagoans!  Secondhand Curves is a plus resale boutique just outside of Chicago, IL, in Rockford!  Rachel Cadie (who spoke on a panel at TCFStyle Expo), also offers luxury handbags and perfume.

4.  Cake Plus-Size Resale (Minneapolis, MN)

When it came to opening Cake Plus-Size Resale in Minneapolis, founder Cat Polivoda planned long term.

She started by selling at plus size events, clothing swaps and online under the name “Cat’s Closet” and opened her shop in 2017.  Cat also offers 1:1 styling sessions, as well as a robust community calendar!

5. Plus Bus Boutique (Los Angeles, CA)

The Plus Bus Boutique is an INSTITUTION.  The shop is in Eagle Rock, but you can always shop via super fun Facebook Live Sales!  And the Plus Bus also offers wardrobe consultations and cyber styling sessions!

6. Curve Conscious (Philadelphia, PA)

Remember Adrienne from her Curvy Boss feature?  Curve Conscious is the premier plus size resale boutique in Philadelphia, and they ship pieces around the world!

7. Copperhive Vintage (Salt Lake City, UT)

Founded by plus business babe Jacqueline Whitmore, Copperhive Vintage is one of the top vintage stores in Utah.

Offering curated mid-century furniture and home goods, as well as vintage plus size pieces – you’ll NEVER leave empty handed.

8.  Re/Dress (Cleveland, OH)

Adding to the plus resale options in the Midwest is Re/Dress!  Having recently re-opened under new ownership, Re/Dress offers plus vintage in-store!

9.  Two Big Blondes (Seattle, WA)

Opened in 1997, I’m pretty sure Two Big Blondes is the oldest plus size resale store in the United States!

Now owned by “one big brunette,” Lisa Michaud, Two Big Blondes offers a wide variety of plus size resale – including plus size wedding dresses!

How about those plus size vintage, resale, and thrift store options?! Did you know that all of these places existed? Ohhh yes!

Did you also know that shopping at these stores is great for the environment!

The rise of “Fast Fashion” has a terrible impact on our planet.  Compared to 16 years ago (2002), the average person buys 60% more clothing and keeps them for half as long.  Not only that, you’re also supporting small and indie plus size businesses, as most thrift and vintage plus size stores are locally owned!
